Some days you just have to notice and appreciate the little things. These plantain seed heads, pretending to be mighty trees, were found poking up from the sparkling snow beside my driveway. Such small things are easily overlooked. The tractor overlooked them during cutting season, heavy snows have avoided burying their little growing spot, and I've walked by them numerous times without noticing their effort to remain standing. It was quite an effort too considering they are the only little thing standing within many acres of snow covered field. They made me stop and bend down low for a close look to see the tiny hardy stems that refuse to give up. It got me thinking - some days noticing and appreciating the little things is the big thing.
