Painting of a Boy Catching Snowflakes on His Tongue

painting of a boy shovelling snow catching snowflakes on his tongue

Building a snow plow with my peddle car didn't work out as planned so I came up with a Plan B. Dad wasn't any more impressed with that plan either. He said "you know, you've got a snow shovel in your hand. Use it!" I replied "I have a tongue in my mouth too and am busy using it instead."

I figured if I caught the snow on my tongue before it landed on the driveway then I'd have much less shoveling to do. I think it worked, but it takes a very long time catching snow flakes!

I worked outside for hours and finally came in the house when I couldn't swallow another snowflake. Dad saw my full belly bursting out of my sweater and said "Boy! Looks like you swallowed the head off your big snowman out there!" It felt like it too. He looked at me with pity and said, "Otter you'll feel a lot better after melting down your huge snowbelly in a warm bath.

Dad is pretty smart sometimes. The warm bath actually worked. My giant snowflake filled belly melted away. As I got into my PJs for the night I was relieved to see that my belly was back to its proper usual size - the one where it looks like I only swallowed the head off the little snowman.

I slept very well that night, which is a good thing. I had to get up extra early in the morning to shovel all the snow that I had somehow missed with my tongue. Later that day dad showed me the painting he had done while watching me catch snowflakes on my tongue. He put it up on a wall in my room to remind me that when I have a shovel in my hand I should sometimes use it.
